This Sunday Tottenham take on Manchester City in a game that could shape the direction of this season's title race.

Tottenham will be determined to prove their worth and stake their claim as genuine title contenders.

Many are still unconvinced that Harry Redknapp's side are anything more than just a flash in the pan, something which Mr. Redknapp is hoping to correct.

The 1-1 draw at home to Wolves last week may not have done Spurs many favours, as it proved they were vulnerable to the pressures of being in title contention.

Spurs have not been genuine title contenders for half-a-century and like City are known for falling at the final hurdle and underachieving on a regular basis.

City themselves are beginning to look vulnerable and are severely lacking the form and confidence they were in following the 5-1 victory over Spurs earlier in the season.

As manager Harry Redknapp prepares to face trial over tax evasion charges, something that could threaten their title chances, he insists that his side are not focused on winning the league but are instead aiming to finish in the top four with anything more being a bonus.

Tottenham who will be missing Emmanuel Adebayor, who is ineligable to face his parent club, will need to replace the in-form Togolese striker, with either Roman Pavlyunchenko or Jermaine Defoe.

It is Tottenham's midfield that have taken the plaudits so far this season.

A reliable keeper behind a solid back four have laid the foundations but the midfield quartet of Lennon, Parker, Modric and Bale have been the difference this season.

The midfield has struck the right balance, with the flair of Bale, speed of Lennon, creativity of Modric and the drive of Parker all going hand-in-hand.

With Rafael Van der Vaart roaming in between the midfield and Adebayor, the side is capable of opening up the tightest of defences.

Their form this season may be too good to be true, but this weekend could be decisive in deciding whether they have the credentials as genuine title contenders or not.
